U12 Girls - Match Report
The Robinson Cruishow!
(Wendy Curry 12/12/2020)
8 Congleton Town FC U12 Girls
0 Witton Albion JFC U12
(Match Date: Saturday 12th December 2020)
Bears đ» feast on goals .2nd game of the season for CTFC U12s Girls
With a squad of 11 players we travelled to Hartford for a match vs Witton Albion.
A sunny but fresh morning perfect for football.
Right From the kickoff town picked up exactly where they left off last week .
Our challenge today was to dominate possession and attack fast . No problem for this team , 3-0 in the first 10 minutes the crossbar and posts rattled by Zimmerman and Green set the tone for what was a one sided affair . Curry turning provider this week laid on 3 goals, with Green performing to the best of her ability to score her first hatrick and provide an assist for Foden .
With Robinson punishing every loose pass it was not long before she scored her first, firing in 3 all from outside the area . . .
Town systematically broke down Wittonâs defence, showing great awareness to pass the ball early behind the 5 girl defence , Town utilised every inch of the pitch to create chance after chance and keep possession, our organisation and high press resulted in Witton struggling to clear the ball from goal kicks and defensive situations.
Witton were clearly confused by our movement and undone by Robinsonâs ferocious right foot. A free kick for her first, 25yds out Robinson bettered last weeks attempt and the ball was In the goal before the keeper had lifted her hands, wow!
Strong defending again from Foden, Hopley and Johnson prevented Witton from getting a shot on goal and allowed our midfield of Green, Faulkner, Braisby, Hopper and Zimmerman the luxury of playing high up the opponents half .
The result, many free flowing passing sequences, with Greenâs third being the envy of any watching football fans. Switching play from wing to wing with a confidence that is hard to believe being such a new team, Green played a cross field pass to Zimmerman, she controlled the ball quickly and squeezed a ball through the defence into Curryâs path on the right wing. Beating her marker to the goal line a great pass into the 6yd area and Gibson was in space to shoot against the goalkeeper the rebound fell to Green who rifled her shot into the right hand corner ....
With the score being 5-0 at half time we made many changes, rotating positions and changing our formation, Town dictated the pace of the game forcing 9 corners.
A quiet first half in goal led to Gibson playing out of goal second half changing places with Faulkner and the former showed how important training outfield is to Goalkeepers . Gibsonâs great fitness and courage on the ball along with some nifty footwork at times resulted in her leaving her markers flat footed and chasing a blur of red hair!
Hopper is growing in confidence her super turn of pace whilst on the ball and good decision making led to her beating the defensive line and having 2 attempts on goal . Hopper, Johnson and Hopleyâs energy and effort was only emulated by girl of the game Braisby, a midfield rock today unbeaten in her tackles she is showing a growing confidence and game knowledge and earning the trust and appreciation of her team mates .
As the bears were in control Foden switched to attacker and within moments had outpaced and out muscled her markers from halfway line to calmly shoot to the keepers right and score her first and deserved goal .
A resounding victory rounded off with the goal of the game for the supporters player Robinson, a tremendous strike from Townâs right wing 30 yds out!
Created by Johnsonâs 30 yard switch pass cutting through Wittonâs midfield found the unmarked Robinson in space and left the keeper in mid air as her shot bulged the back of the net.
The game finished as it started with Town on the attack and only great sportsmanship and understanding kept the score line below double figures.
Goal scorers:
Robinson 3
Foden 1
Curry 1
Green 3
Girl of the game Braisby.
