U12s - Match Report

We're Back!

(Rowan Kitton 10/04/2021)

0    Congleton Town FC U12s
0    Middlewich Town

(Match Date: Saturday 10th April 2021)
It had been a long time since any football had been played, it didn’t matter. The lads hadn’t trained much, it didn’t matter. The weather was poor, it didn’t matter. CTFC U12 Football was back, that’s all that mattered! Give 2 teams a ball and a patch of grass and they remind us all of what is important when you’re 11 or 12 years old.

CTFC hosted Middlewich Town who had managed to play 2 friendly games during opening week. The first 15 minutes saw Congleton dominate possession, winning each individual battle and playing the ball round like they’d never been away. The ball was played in the Middlewich half, with one or two chances created but without really threatening the goal. Naturally, the lads would tire yet they remained on top and looked the more likely to score.

The second half was a little scrappy due to the tiredness but still it was Congleton that were the most likely to get something from the game. Defensively Congleton were solid and Middlewich’s defence was also strong and holding out well, given the times the ball was in their half. Neither side could find the goal but both sides will be pleased enough with the performance.

How can a nil-nil draw have a winner? Football was the winner! Well done, it’s great to be back.
