(Matt Winstanley 01/10/2017)

10    Congleton Rovers JFC U13s Yellow
2    Holmes Chapel Blacks

(Match Date: Sunday 1st October 2017)
Sunday 1st October, saw Congleton Rovers Under 13’s travelling away to Holmes Chapel Blacks. After a close match the previous week Congleton were keen to get going. Led out by captain Jack Holt, Rovers made a strong start even though the Holmes Chapel side showed some promise in the earlier part of the first half. Firs impressions were the two sides were well matched. Some early attempts on goal rattled the Holmes Chapel camp with an attempt from Noah Zimmermann going just wide, some classy play from Rovers brought the second challenge from Kieran Lougheed. Rovers were looking up for it and hungry for goals , the majority of play was coming from the Congleton side at this point, however a break from Holmes was to come but the threat was thwarted by Jude Bowles at right back. Congleton then went on the attack with some awesome play by Jack Holt on the right wing and a gift coming from Milo James to Leo Willcock breaking through the Holmes chapel defence. 0-1

Rovers were soon to be gifted again after a corner into Willcock which bobbled in the goal and went in. 0-2. Willcock was soon to return the favour crossing the ball into James for a tap in. 0-3.Some fantastic strength and skill coming from the Rovers mid field saw Lewis Johnstone power a ball through for Lougheed resulting in goal number 4.

A mistake by the Congleton boys was capitalised on by the Holmes Chapel side, making the most of the confusion 1-4, and in the 18th minute the Rovers defence was broken down with Holmes chapel scoring their second goal in the top corner 2-4.

Next to break through was Lewis Johnstone , powering the ball through to the left corner of the net 2-5. Congleton were looking unstoppable at this point, with some great football being played by Felix Holland and Noah Zimmermann.

After some stylish football coming from the Congleton side. The next goal came when the ball bobbled up to the Holmes Chapel Keeper, rolling up his arms and into the goal for Zimmermann 2-6.

With 26 minutes gone it was Bill Bryce-Smiths turn to get his name on the score sheet and again after 32 minutes with a lovely through ball taking the scoreline to 2-8. Half time couldn’t come soon enough for the Holmes Chapel side.

The second half saw an outstanding save from Jack Molloy coming from a long range cross. Congletons defence of George Wassall and Reuben Thornden remained solid and unrattled throughout. A great run by Milo James resulted in the 9th goal and after some great work from Man of the Match Leo Willcock passing to James for a straight forward finish gifting him with his hat trick.
A solid performance came from Lyle Galbraith on the right wing and Jono Clark at rightback showing Rovers strength and depth. An outstanding performance from all the Rovers boys.
